Headless body with organs ripped out found in paradise island as snap 'tipped off killers'

A grisly trail of body parts strewn across a paradise island beach marked the end of a brutal kidnap gone horribly wrong, but the story began with one Instagram post

Investigators searching for the kidnapped son of a wealthy Ukrainian businessman made a grisly find in a holiday hotspot loved by Brits. A severed head and a number of other body parts found by police are confirmed to be the remains of Igor Komarov, who was kidnapped on February 15.
It’s believed that Igor’s killers had been pursuing him for some weeks, and had managed to track him down using the location data from Instagram posts made by his influencer girlfriend, Yeva Mishalova.
Before his death, a horrifying video had been uploaded by Igor’s killers, demanding a ransom of around £7million for his safe return.

In the clip, the seemingly-injured Ukrainian 28-year-old begged for his life, saying: “They already chopped off some of my limbs, I have broken legs [and they] punched [my] ribcage. I’m already on meds, I already have no limbs.”

In the video, Igor warned that without urgent treatment his wounds would become infected, and said that there was no chance of his kidnappers being traced before their deadline. He continued: “Bring me home, what is left of me at the moment, please settle with these people, they need ten million dollars, which we stole.

“As soon as these ten million are received in their accounts, they will immediately let me go to the place where they took me.”

Igor had been with a group of friends, riding motorbikes on a steep road in the north of the holiday hotspot island, when a group of armed men suddenly ambushed them. In some reports, it has been claimed that one of Igor’s friends was also snatched by the attackers, and later released after a ransom was paid, but Igor seems to have been the kidnappers’ main target.

A new analysis of the deadly kidnap on true-crime channel Lazy Masquerade says that the attackers had been able to find Igor thanks to Yeva’s constant social media use.

The narrator explains that images posted by Yesa, 25, provided a detailed look at Igor’s movements. They explained: “She updated her fans on her daily activities with Igor, posting photos and videos in real time with captions and with geotags. That meant that anyone keeping an eye on the couple knew exactly where they were.”

A romantic post on February 14, showing the couple in swimwear, celebrating Valentine’s Day in the tropical paradise island, was the specific clue that led Igor’s kidnappers to him, it has been suggested.

After the harrowing ransom video was posted via Telegram, a second video emerged in which Igor, clearly under duress, claimed that his father had been running a scam call-centre in Ukraine and had fleeced victims of millions.

Less than a fortnight after Igor was kidnapped, human remains were discovered at the mouth of Wos River in Bali’s lower east coast. A police statement said that the head, right leg, upper chest sections, thighs and internal organs had been cut from the body of someone who had died two or three days previously.

Because the remains were already severely decomposed, visual identification was impossible, and investigators sent six bone samples to the National Police Forensic Laboratory Centre in Jakarta for DNA analysis.

The tests showed that the DNA of the body parts found was a close match to the tissue samples provided by the victim’s parents.

Forensic tests also tied the victim’s mutilated remains to bloodstains and other evidence found in a rental car and a holiday villa in Bali’s Tabanan region which is believed to have been rented by the killers.

ali Police Senior Commander Ariasandy told the Jakarta Glovbe: “Blood spatters found at the villa and in the Avanza car, which is suspected to have been used by the perpetrators, were examined, and the results are identical to the DNA of the victim’s mother.”

He added that CCTV evidence showing the Toyota Avanza and two motorcycles travelling from the initial crime scene had led investigators to the house, and that a man who had used a forged passport to rent the car was already in custody. “Initially, we secured one foreign national with the initials CH, who rented vehicles using a false passport,” he said.

The suspect told police he was unaware the car would be used in a crime and said he had been asked by others to rent the vehicle in exchange for Rp 6 million (about £250).

“Following further investigation,” Ariasandy added, “we named six other foreign nationals as suspects — RM, BK, AS, VN, SM and DH. All are men.”

Yeva has continued to post fairly consistently on her Instagram account throughout the harrowing period, advertising mineral water and various other brands. She has made no comment on Igor’s death beyond posting a picture of them on her story, with the caption: “I know for sure you’ll see this. My life. I love you.”
